A Note on Fluxes in Six-Dimensional String Theory Backgrounds
Katrin Becker, Li-Sheng Tseng

TL;DR
This paper investigates warped compactifications of type IIB string theory to six dimensions, revealing that the internal four-manifold is conformal to a Kahler manifold, differing from heterotic string theory where it must be Calabi-Yau.
Contribution
It demonstrates that the internal four-manifold in type IIB compactifications is conformal to a Kahler manifold, expanding understanding of possible geometries in string compactifications.
Findings
Internal four-manifold is conformal to Kahler
Contrasts with heterotic case where manifold is Calabi-Yau
Provides new insights into six-dimensional string backgrounds
Abstract
We study the structure of warped compactifications of type IIB string theory to six space-time dimensions. We find that the most general four-manifold describing the internal dimensions is conformal to a Kahler manifold, in contrast with the heterotic case where the four-manifold must be conformally Calabi-Yau.
