M5-brane Effective Action as an On-shell Action in Supergravity
Matsuo Sato, Asato Tsuchiya

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates that the covariant effective action for M5-branes solves the Hamilton-Jacobi equations in 11-dimensional supergravity, reproducing the supergravity solutions for M2-M5 bound states.
Contribution
It establishes a direct link between M5-brane effective actions and supergravity solutions via Hamilton-Jacobi equations, providing a new perspective on brane dynamics.
Findings
The M5-brane effective action is a solution to 11D supergravity H-J equations.
Reproduces supergravity solutions for M2-M5 bound states.
Connects brane effective actions with supergravity in a covariant framework.
Abstract
We show that the covariant effective action for M5-brane is a solution to the Hamilton-Jacobi (H-J) equations of 11-dimensional supergravity. The solution to the H-J equations reproduces the supergravity solution that represents the M2-M5 bound states.
