The Self-Dual String and Anomalies in the M5-brane
David S. Berman, Jeffrey A. Harvey

TL;DR
This paper investigates the anomalies associated with a self-dual string in M5-branes, revealing how anomaly cancellation constrains zero-mode anomalies and relates to D-brane couplings through dimensional reduction.
Contribution
It provides a detailed analysis of anomalies in self-dual strings on M5-branes and derives related anomalous couplings for D-branes via dimensional reduction.
Findings
Anomaly cancellation determines zero-mode anomalies and their scaling.
Dimensional reduction links M5-brane anomalies to D-brane couplings.
Results enhance understanding of M5-brane dynamics and anomaly inflow.
Abstract
We study the anomalies of a charge self-dual string solution in the Coulomb branch of M5-branes. Cancellation of these anomalies allows us to determine the anomaly of the zero-modes on the self-dual string and their scaling with and . The dimensional reduction of the five-brane anomalous couplings then lead to certain anomalous couplings for D-branes.
