TL;DR
This paper investigates the non-abelian statistics of axion strings coupled with Majorana fermions, revealing the existence of a Majorana-Weyl zero mode that leads to non-abelian behavior.
Contribution
It demonstrates that axion strings with Majorana zero modes exhibit non-abelian statistics, a novel insight into topological properties of such defects.
Findings
Existence of Majorana-Weyl zero mode on axion strings
Axion strings obey non-abelian statistics due to zero modes
Potential implications for topological quantum computation
Abstract
We examine an axion string coupled to a Majorana fermion. It is found that there exist a Majorana-Weyl zero mode on the string. Due to the zero mode, the axion strings obey non-abelian statistics.
