Cut-off QFT and black hole entropy
Gilad Lifschytz (University of Haifa at Oranim)

TL;DR
This paper explores how black hole entropy relates to the degrees of freedom in a dual quantum field theory with a cut-off, using gravity arguments to validate the cut-off procedure.
Contribution
It clarifies the connection between black hole entropy and QFT degrees of freedom with a cut-off, supported by gravity-based predictions.
Findings
Gravity arguments predict the correct cut-off procedure.
The relationship between black hole entropy and QFT degrees of freedom is clarified.
The paper provides a consistent framework for understanding cut-offs in holographic dualities.
Abstract
We clarify the relationship between black hole entropy and the number of degrees of freedom in the dual QFT with a cut-off. We show that simple gravity arguments predict the correct cut-off procedure.
