G. Bonelli (U.L.B., V.U.B.)

TL;DR
This paper develops matrix string models for exact (2,2) string theories in backgrounds with non-constant RR-flux, revealing non-perturbative interactions and extending instanton analysis beyond flat backgrounds.
Contribution
It introduces new matrix string models with manifest supersymmetry in non-trivial RR backgrounds, connecting string theories to M-theory and non-perturbative effects.
Findings
Formulation of matrix string models with (2,2) supersymmetry in RR backgrounds
Extension of instanton asymptotic expansion to curved backgrounds
Derivation of a companion matrix model with eleven-dimensional supersymmetry
Abstract
We formulate matrix string models on a class of exact string backgrounds with non constant RR-flux parameterized by a holomorphic prepotential function and with manifest (2,2) supersymmetry. This lifts these string theories to M-theory exposing the non perturbative string interaction which is studied by generalizing the instanton asymptotic expansion, well established in the flat background case, to this more general case. We obtain also a companion matrix model with four manifest supersymmetries in eleven dimensions.
