Sergei Gukov, David Tong

TL;DR
This paper explores how mirror symmetry in 3D N=1 gauge theories helps identify the world-volume theory of D2-branes probing G_2 holonomy manifolds, providing insights into string theory compactifications.
Contribution
It introduces a method using mirror symmetry to determine D-brane world-volume theories on G_2 manifolds, advancing understanding of their gauge theory descriptions.
Findings
Mirror symmetry relates gauge theories to G_2 geometry
D2-brane world-volume theories are characterized using this approach
Provides a simplified framework for studying G_2 holonomy manifolds
Abstract
We describe how mirror symmetry of three-dimensional N=1 supersymmetric gauge theories can be used to determine the theory on the world-volume of a D2-brane probe of manifolds with G_2 holonomy. This is a much shortened companion paper to hep-th/0202126.
