P.S. Howe (London), U. Lindstr\"om (Stockholm)

TL;DR
This paper constructs supermembrane actions incorporating higher derivative and extrinsic curvature terms using superembedding formalism, advancing the understanding of effective actions for supersymmetric objects.
Contribution
It introduces the first example of a fully κ-symmetric supermembrane action with extrinsic curvature terms, expanding the class of known supersymmetric brane actions.
Findings
First κ-symmetric supermembrane action with extrinsic curvature terms.
Demonstrates the use of superembedding formalism for higher derivative terms.
Provides insights into effective actions for extended supersymmetric objects.
Abstract
Using the superembedding formalism we construct supermembrane actions with higher derivative terms which can be viewed as possible higher order terms in effective actions. In particular, we provide the first example of an action for an extended supersymmetric object with fully -symmetric extrinsic curvature terms.
