Divergences in Kaluza-Klein Models and their String Regularization
D.M. Ghilencea, H.P. Nilles, S. Stieberger

TL;DR
This paper investigates how string theory regularization affects the ultraviolet behavior of Kaluza-Klein models with extra dimensions, especially considering the role of low energy supersymmetry.
Contribution
It provides explicit string calculations to analyze the ultraviolet sensitivity of Kaluza-Klein theories within a string regularization framework.
Findings
String regularization offers a consistent way to study UV divergences.
Supersymmetry influences the divergence structure in extra-dimensional models.
The approach clarifies the connection between effective field theories and string theory.
Abstract
Effective field theories with (large) extra dimensions are studied within a physical regularization scheme provided by string theory. Explicit string calculations then allow us to consistently analyze the ultraviolet sensitivity of Kaluza--Klein theories in the presence or absence of low energy supersymmetry.
