Gravitating monopoles in SU(3) gauge theory
Y. Brihaye, B.M.A.G Piette

TL;DR
This paper investigates gravitating monopole solutions within SU(3) gauge theory by solving Einstein-Yang-Mills-Higgs equations under spherical symmetry, comparing these solutions to the well-studied SU(2) case.
Contribution
It extends the analysis of monopole solutions to SU(3) gauge groups, revealing new properties and differences from SU(2) monopoles in a gravitational context.
Findings
Identification of properties of SU(3) monopoles
Comparison with SU(2) monopole solutions
Insights into gravitational effects on gauge monopoles
Abstract
We consider the Einstein-Yang-Mills-Higgs equations for an SU(3) gauge group in a spherically symmetric ansatz. Several properties of the gravitating monopole solutions are obtained an compared with their SU(2) counterpart.
