Dimensional Reduction by a Two-Form (another alternative to compactification)
P. Maraner

TL;DR
This paper proposes a novel mechanism for dimensional reduction in higher-dimensional gravity theories through spontaneous symmetry breaking induced by a two-form field, resulting in a four-dimensional spacetime consistent with general relativity.
Contribution
It introduces a new approach to compactification via a two-form field causing spontaneous symmetry breaking, leading to four-dimensional spacetime emergence.
Findings
Dimensional reduction achieved through two-form coupling.
Emergence of four-dimensional Poincaré invariance.
Reproduction of general relativity at low energies.
Abstract
It is shown that the local coupling of a higher dimensional graviton to a closed degenerate two-form produces dimensional reduction by spontaneous breakdown of extra-dimensional translational symmetry. Four dimensional Poincar\'e invariance emerges as residual symmetry. As a specific example, a six dimensional geometry coupled to a closed rank 2 two-form yields the `ground state' with a fundamental length scale. At low energies, space-time reduces to four observable dimensions and general relativistic gravity is reproduced.
