D.K. Park, H. J. W. M\"uller-Kirsten, A. V. Shurgaia

TL;DR
This paper derives an explicit functional relation between interquark potential and distance using the Nambu-Goto action in AdS5×S5, with broader applicability and implications for confinement.
Contribution
It presents a new explicit derivation of the interquark potential-distance relation in AdS/CFT, extending to general backgrounds and discussing confinement implications.
Findings
Explicit relation between interquark potential and distance derived
Relation holds in general backgrounds beyond AdS5×S5
Implications for understanding confinement in gauge theories
Abstract
The functional relation between interquark potential and interquark distance is explicitly derived by considering the Nambu--Goto action in the background. It is also shown that a similar relation holds in a general background. The implications of this relation for confinement are briefly discussed.
