p-Brane Action from Gravi-Dilaton Effective Action
J. A. Nieto, C. M. Yee

TL;DR
The paper demonstrates that under a specific metric ansatz, the higher-dimensional gravi-dilaton effective action simplifies to a p-brane action, highlighting a dual symmetry that is preserved in the reduction.
Contribution
It provides a direct derivation showing the reduction of the gravi-dilaton effective action to p-brane action using a specific metric ansatz, emphasizing the dual symmetry.
Findings
Reduction of higher-dimensional action to p-brane action
Identification of a dual symmetry in the reduced action
Validation through straightforward computation
Abstract
Using a special ansatz for the metric, by straightforward computation we prove that gravi-dilaton effective action in higher dimensions is reduced to the p-brane action. The dual symmetry of the generic type is an important symmetry of the reduced action.
