Higgs mechanism in the Randall-Sundrum model
A. Flachi, D. J. Toms

TL;DR
This paper explores how a non-minimally coupled bulk scalar field in the Randall-Sundrum model can induce spontaneous symmetry breaking on the brane through dimensional reduction.
Contribution
It demonstrates a novel mechanism for symmetry breaking in the Randall-Sundrum model via non-minimal coupling of a bulk scalar field.
Findings
Spontaneous symmetry breaking can be achieved on the brane.
Non-minimal coupling influences the scalar field dynamics.
Dimensional reduction facilitates symmetry breaking in extra-dimensional models.
Abstract
We consider the dimensional reduction of a bulk scalar field in the Randall-Sundrum model. By allowing the scalar field to be non-minimally coupled to the spacetime curvature we show that it is possible to generate spontaneous symmetry breaking on the brane.
