Infrared singularities in the renormalization group flow of Yang-Mills theories in the axial gauge
Annamaria Panza, Roberto Soldati (U. of Bologna)

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates through explicit axial gauge calculations that the renormalization group flow of the Wilson loop exhibits infrared singularities, preventing it from recovering gauge-invariant results as the infrared cutoff is removed.
Contribution
It provides a detailed analysis of infrared singularities in the RG flow of Wilson loops in axial gauge, highlighting limitations in reproducing gauge invariance.
Findings
RG flow exhibits infrared singularities in axial gauge
Wilson loop results are gauge-dependent in perturbation theory
Infrared cutoff removal does not yield gauge-invariant results
Abstract
It is shown, by explicit calculation in the axial gauge, that the renormalization group flow for the Wilson loop in perturbation theory does exhibit singularities and consequently it can not eventually reproduce the gauge invariant result, when the infrared cut off is removed
