Stability and BPS branes
Michael R. Douglas, Bartomeu Fiol, Christian R\"omelsberger

TL;DR
The paper introduces Pi-stability, a new stability concept that generalizes mu-stability, to characterize N=1 supersymmetric branes and BPS states in string theory compactifications with N=2 supersymmetry.
Contribution
It proposes Pi-stability as a novel framework for understanding supersymmetric brane configurations and BPS states in string theory.
Findings
Pi-stability generalizes mu-stability for vector bundles.
It characterizes N=1 supersymmetric branes.
Applicable to N=2 string compactifications.
Abstract
We define the concept of Pi-stability, a generalization of mu-stability of vector bundles, and argue that it characterizes N=1 supersymmetric brane configurations and BPS states in very general string theory compactifications with N=2 supersymmetry in four dimensions.
