Effects of Magnetic Fields on String Pair Creation
Ciprian Acatrinei

TL;DR
This paper calculates how uniform electromagnetic fields influence open string pair creation rates across different dimensions, highlighting corrections beyond pure electric fields and deriving a Born-Infeld action contribution.
Contribution
It provides a detailed calculation of string pair production rates in electromagnetic backgrounds, including corrections and a derived Born-Infeld action term, advancing understanding of string dynamics in such fields.
Findings
Pair production rates depend on electromagnetic field configurations.
Corrections to pure electric background cases are quantified.
A Born-Infeld action contribution is derived and emphasized.
Abstract
The rate of pair production of open strings in general uniform electromagnetic fields is calculated in various space-time dimensions. The corrections with respect to the case of pure electric backgrounds are displayed. In particular, a contribution in the form of a Born-Infeld action is derived and its role in the present context emphasized
