W. Dittrich, R. Shaisultanov

TL;DR
This paper employs world-line techniques to compute vacuum polarization and effective action in scalar and spinor QED under arbitrary constant electromagnetic fields, inspired by recent string-inspired methods.
Contribution
It introduces a novel application of world-line methods to QED calculations with arbitrary external fields, expanding on previous string-inspired approaches.
Findings
Successfully calculated vacuum polarization tensors.
Derived effective actions for scalar and spinor QED.
Demonstrated the versatility of world-line techniques in QED.
Abstract
Motivated by several recent papers on string-inspired calculations in QED, we here present our own use of world-line techniques in order to calculate the vacuum polarization and effective action in scalar and spinor QED with external arbitrary constant electromagnetic field configuration.
