TL;DR
This paper investigates how the transverse momentum broadening in Drell-Yan processes depends on the Feynman-x variable, using perturbative QCD to connect initial-state interactions with measurable effects.
Contribution
It demonstrates that the $x_F$ dependence of transverse momentum broadening can be calculated within a generalized factorization framework in perturbative QCD.
Findings
$ ext{Delta}<q_T^2>$ varies with } x_F$ in a calculable way.
$ ext{Transverse momentum broadening is a useful probe for initial-state multiple scattering.
The observable can help extract quark-gluon correlation functions.
Abstract
We analyze dependence of Drell-Yan transverse momentum broadening in hadron-nucleus collisions. In terms of generalized factorization theorem, we show that the dependence of transverse momentum broadening, , can be calculated in perturbative QCD. We demonstrate that is a good observable for studying the effects of initial-state multiple scattering and extracting quark-gluon correlation functions.
