String Breaking in Two-Dimensional QCD
K. Hornbostel

TL;DR
This paper numerically investigates how light quark-antiquark pairs influence the linear potential between heavy quarks in 2D QCD, demonstrating string breaking at the meson pair threshold.
Contribution
It provides the first numerical evidence of string breaking in light-cone quantized two-dimensional QCD by analyzing the ground-state wavefunction.
Findings
String breaking observed at heavy-light meson threshold.
Light quark effects modify the heavy-quark potential.
Identification of states responsible for string breaking.
Abstract
I present results of a numerical calculation of the effects of light quark-antiquark pairs on the linear heavy-quark potential in light-cone quantized two-dimensional QCD. I extract the potential from the Q-Qbar component of the ground-state wavefunction, and observe string breaking at the heavy-light meson pair threshold. I briefly comment on the states responsible for the breaking.
