Neutrino Masses and Mixings with Flavor Symmetries
Morimitsu Tanimoto

TL;DR
This paper explores models of neutrino masses and mixings using flavor symmetries like S_3 and O(3), aiming to explain the large flavor mixing observed in atmospheric neutrino data.
Contribution
It analyzes specific flavor symmetry models, particularly S_3 and O(3), to account for near-maximal neutrino mixing in three-family frameworks.
Findings
Models with S_3 and O(3) symmetries can produce large neutrino mixing angles.
The paper provides detailed constructions of lepton mass matrices under these symmetries.
It discusses the implications of these models for neutrino oscillation data.
Abstract
Recent atmospheric neutrino data at Super-Kamiokande suggest the large flavor mixing of neutrinos. Models for the lepton mass matrix, which give the near-maximal flavor mixing, are discussed in the three family model. Especially, details of the models with the or O(3) flavor symmetry are studied.
