Yukawa couplings and proton decay in SUSY models
Mario E. Gomez

TL;DR
This paper investigates proton decay mechanisms in SUSY models with extra triplets, deriving formulas and conditions to suppress decay via dimension-5 operators, with applications to SU(5) theories.
Contribution
It provides a general formula linking dimension-5 operators to the triplet mass matrix and identifies conditions to eliminate these operators in SUSY models.
Findings
Certain zeros in the triplet mass matrix can suppress proton decay.
Selection rules in triplet couplings can eliminate dimension-5 operators.
Application to SU(5) models demonstrates practical suppression mechanisms.
Abstract
We discuss proton decay induced by dimension--5 operators in supersymmetric models containing extra hypercharge-1/3 color-triplets. We derive a general formula relating dimension-5 operator to the color-triplet mass matrix. We show that certain zeros in the triplet mass-matrix together with some triplet coupling selection rules can lead to elimination of dimension-5 operators. We apply this mechanism to SU(5) and flipped SU(5) theories with extended Higgs sectors.
