$B_c$ meson production at the Tevatron Revisited
Kingman Cheung (UC-Davis)

TL;DR
This paper revisits $B_c$ meson production at the Tevatron, comparing experimental measurements with perturbative QCD calculations, estimating charm-quark mass, and predicting future production rates.
Contribution
It provides a consistency check between experimental data and theoretical perturbative QCD calculations for $B_c$ production, and offers predictions for RunII.
Findings
The measured ratio $rac{\sigma(B_c^+)}{\sigma(ar b)}$ is consistent with theoretical calculations.
Perturbative QCD fragmentation functions effectively describe $B_c$ production.
Estimated charm-quark mass from data informs future production rate predictions.
Abstract
CDF recently measured the quantity , {}from which we determine the ratio to be . In this note, we show that the ratio obtained by dividing the by the leading order is consistent with this derived CDF measurement. We calculate the cross section using the perturbative QCD fragmentation functions of Braaten, Cheung, and Yuan and the corresponding induced gluon fragmentation functions, with the charm-quark mass as a parameter. We also estimate the parameter from the CDF data and then predict the production rate at RunII.
