S. Bright, R. Winston, E. C. Swallow, A. Alavi-Harati

TL;DR
This paper develops a simplified effective Hamiltonian method to analyze hyperon beta decay, focusing on the polarization of the final-state baryon, and demonstrates that the approximate expressions closely match the exact calculations.
Contribution
It introduces a simplified effective Hamiltonian approach for hyperon beta decay that accurately predicts final-state baryon polarization with more compact formulas.
Findings
Approximate expressions agree closely with exact results.
Simplified formulas are more compact and easier to use.
Method retains accuracy through second order in energy release.
Abstract
Using an effective Hamiltonian approach, we obtain expressions for hyperon beta decay final-state baryon polarization. Terms through second order in the energy release are retained. The resulting approximate expressions are much simpler and more compact than the exact expressions, and they agree closely with them.
