Electromagnetic Corrections to K -> pi pi I: Chiral Perturbation Theory
V. Cirigliano, J. Donoghue, E. Golowich

TL;DR
This paper analyzes electromagnetic corrections to the dominant K -> pi pi decay using chiral perturbation theory, finding amplitude shifts of a few percent.
Contribution
It provides a detailed calculation of electromagnetic effects on K -> pi pi decays within chiral perturbation theory, which was not comprehensively done before.
Findings
Electromagnetic corrections cause several percent shifts in decay amplitudes.
Chiral perturbation theory effectively models electromagnetic effects in kaon decays.
The results improve the precision of theoretical predictions for K -> pi pi processes.
Abstract
An analysis of electromagnetic corrections to the (dominant) octet K -> pi pi hamiltonian using chiral perturbation theory is carried out. Relative shifts in amplitudes at the several per cent level are found.
