New Conditions for a Total Neutrino Conversion in a Medium
M. V. Chizhov, S. T. Petcov

TL;DR
This paper introduces new conditions under which total neutrino conversion occurs in multi-layer media with constant densities, relevant for understanding neutrino oscillations through Earth's layered structure.
Contribution
It presents novel conditions for total neutrino conversion in nonperiodic multi-layer media, expanding the understanding of neutrino oscillations in Earth's layered structure.
Findings
Total neutrino conversion can occur in multi-layer media with constant densities.
The effect is relevant for solar and atmospheric neutrinos crossing Earth's core.
New conditions differ from previously known oscillation scenarios.
Abstract
A new effect of total neutrino conversion is possible when neutrino propagates through multi-layer medium of nonperiodic constant density layers. The effect can take place in the oscillations in the Earth of the Earth-core-crossing solar and atmospheric neutrinos.
