Nucleon-Quarkonium Elastic Scattering and the Gluon Contribution to Nucleon Spin
Pervez Hoodbhoy

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates that near-threshold heavy quarkonium-nucleon scattering amplitudes are governed by the gluonic contributions to the nucleon's angular and linear momentum, providing insights into the gluon role in nucleon structure.
Contribution
It introduces a method to relate quarkonium-nucleon scattering amplitudes to the gluon momentum and angular momentum fractions within the nucleon.
Findings
Scattering amplitude is determined by gluon momentum and angular momentum fractions.
Derived a non-relativistic potential for quarkonium-nucleon interactions.
Provides a theoretical framework linking scattering data to nucleon gluon content.
Abstract
It is shown that the amplitude for the scattering of a heavy quarkonium system from a nucleon near threshold is completely determined by the fraction of angular momentum, as well as linear momentum, carried by gluons in the nucleon. A form for the quarkonium-nucleon non-relativistic potential is derived.
