Pomeron Fusion and Central $\eta$ and $\eta'$ Meson Production
N.I.Kochelev, T.Morii, A.V.Vinnikov

TL;DR
This paper calculates the role of pomeron fusion in producing $ ext{eta}$ and $ ext{eta'}$ mesons in double-diffractive scattering, finding it insufficient to fully explain recent experimental data but possibly relevant for $ ext{eta'}$.
Contribution
It provides a calculation of pomeron fusion contributions to meson production using the Donnachie-Landshoff model, highlighting limitations in explaining experimental results.
Findings
Pomeron fusion contributes to $ ext{eta}$ and $ ext{eta'}$ production cross sections.
The model does not fully account for recent WA102 data on $ ext{eta}$ production.
Pomeron fusion may be more relevant for $ ext{eta'}$ than $ ext{eta}$ production.
Abstract
The contribution of pomeron fusion to the cross section of and productions in double-diffractive scattering has been calculated within the Donnachie-Landshoff model of pomeron. It is shown that the double pomeron exchange mechanism does not explain the full set of the recent data of WA102 Collaboration, though it might not be inconsistent with productions.
