On Mechanism of Charmed c-Quarks Fragmentation in Hadronic Collisions
A.K. Likhoded, S.R. Slabospitsky (Serpukhov, IFVE)

TL;DR
This paper introduces a modified mechanism for charmed quark fragmentation into D mesons in hadronic collisions, highlighting how valence quark distributions in initial mesons influence the spectra of produced D and D_s mesons.
Contribution
It presents a new fragmentation mechanism accounting for valence quark differences in initial mesons, explaining variations in D meson spectra in different hadronic beams.
Findings
Different inclusive spectra of D and D_s mesons observed in π± and K± beams.
Valence quark distributions significantly affect charmed meson production.
Modified fragmentation mechanism aligns with experimental spectra data.
Abstract
We propose a modification of the mechanism of charmed quarks fragmentation into mesons in hadronic collisions. It is shown that the distinction in valence quark distributions in the initial and mesons leads to different inclusive spectra of and mesons produced in and beams.
