Symmetry Reduction, Gauge Transformation and Orbifold
Tetsuaki Kawamoto, Yoshiharu Kawamura

TL;DR
This paper investigates how symmetry reduction occurs in higher-dimensional field theories through orbifold compactification, focusing on the conditions for multiplet splitting and gauge transformation properties.
Contribution
It introduces a mechanism for symmetry reduction via orbifold compactification and analyzes the gauge transformation behavior of split multiplets.
Findings
Multiplets split unless all components share the same orbifold parity.
Gauge transformation properties are affected by the orbifold boundary conditions.
Abstract
We study a mechanism of symmetry reduction in a higher-dimensional field theory upon orbifold compactification. Split multiplets appear unless all components in a multiplet of a symmetry group have a common parity on an orbifold. A gauge transformation property is also examined.
