## TL;DR

This paper applies the overlap formulation to 2D chiral U(1) models, demonstrating that gauge averaging the phases yields results consistent with the continuum theory.

## Contribution

It provides evidence that the overlap approach correctly reproduces continuum physics in anomaly-free 2D chiral gauge theories.

## Key findings

- Gauge averaging of overlap phases produces correct continuum results.
- Overlap formulation is effective for 2D chiral U(1) models.
- Supports the validity of overlap in anomaly-free chiral gauge theories.

## Abstract

The overlap formulation is applied to an anomaly free combination of chiral fermions coupled to U(1) gauge fields on a 2D torus. Evidence is presented that gauge averaging the overlap phases in these models produces correct continuum results.
