Grigorios I. Poulis (NIKHEF-K), Howard D. Trottier (SFU)

TL;DR
This paper calculates the potential between adjoint sources in 3D SU(2) gauge theory, exploring if it saturates at large distances due to gluelump pair creation, shedding light on confinement mechanisms.
Contribution
It provides a detailed calculation of the adjoint potential in 3D SU(2) gauge theory and examines the role of gluelump pair creation in potential saturation.
Findings
Potential saturates at large distances due to gluelump pair creation
Evidence supports the formation of color-singlet states from glue and sources
Insights into confinement mechanisms in lower-dimensional gauge theories
Abstract
We calculate the potential between adjoint sources in pure gauge theory in three dimensions. We investigate whether the potential saturates at large separations due to the creation of a pair of gluelumps, colour-singlet states formed when glue binds to an adjoint source.
