Dual Meissner Effect and String Tension in SU(2) Lattice Gauge Theory
P. Cea, L. Cosmai

TL;DR
This paper investigates the distribution of color fields in SU(2) lattice gauge theory, demonstrating that the London penetration length aligns with asymptotic freedom and relates to string tension, regardless of gauge fixing.
Contribution
It shows that the London penetration length is gauge-independent and scales with asymptotic freedom, establishing a simple relation with the string tension in SU(2) gauge theory.
Findings
Penetration length matches with and without gauge fixing.
Penetration length scales according to asymptotic freedom.
A simple relation between penetration length and string tension is proposed.
Abstract
We study the distribution of the color fields due to a static quark-antiquark pair in SU(2) lattice gauge theory. We find that the London penetration length measured after Abelian projection in the Abelian Covariant gauge (Maximal Abelian gauge) agrees with the one obtained without gauge fixing. Moreover the penetration length scales according to asymptotic freedom. We put out a simple relation between the penetration length and the string tension.
