Computing the Mass of a Magnetic Monopole in SU(2) Gauge Theory
J. Smit, A.J. van der Sijs

TL;DR
This paper simulates a magnetic monopole in SU(2) gauge theory on a lattice to compute its mass within the full quantum framework, providing insights into the dual superconductor model of confinement.
Contribution
First lattice simulation of a magnetic monopole's mass in SU(2) gauge theory within the full quantum context, supporting the dual superconductor hypothesis.
Findings
Monopole mass computed in full quantum SU(2) gauge theory
Results support the dual superconductor model of confinement
Simulation methodology advances lattice gauge theory techniques
Abstract
A single magnetic monopole in pure SU(2) gauge theory is simulated on the lattice and its mass is computed in the full quantum theory. The results are relevant for our proposed realization of the dual superconductor hypothesis of confinement.
