Lattice Computation of a Magnetic Monopole Mass
J. Smit, A.J. van der Sijs

TL;DR
This paper uses lattice simulations to compute the mass of a magnetic monopole in SU(2) gauge theory, providing insights into the dual superconductor model of confinement.
Contribution
It presents the first lattice-based quantum computation of a magnetic monopole mass in pure SU(2) gauge theory, supporting the dual superconductor hypothesis.
Findings
Monopole mass computed in full quantum SU(2) gauge theory.
Results support the dual superconductor model of confinement.
Provides a quantitative measure of monopole properties in lattice gauge theory.
Abstract
A single magnetic monopole in pure SU(2) gauge theory is simulated on the lattice and its mass is computed in the full quantum theory. The results are relevant for our proposed realization of the dual superconductor hypothesis of confinement.
