Gribov Copies and Other Gauge Fixing Beasties on the Lattice
Arjan Hulsebos

TL;DR
This paper investigates gauge fixing ambiguities in two-dimensional lattice gauge theories, relates them to spin models, and proposes an annealing algorithm to eliminate these ambiguities, enhancing the reliability of gauge fixing.
Contribution
It introduces a novel approach linking gauge fixing ambiguities to spin models and presents an annealing algorithm to effectively remove these ambiguities.
Findings
Gauge fixing ambiguities are related to associated spin models.
An annealing algorithm can eliminate gauge fixing ambiguities.
The method improves gauge fixing reliability on the lattice.
Abstract
Write-up for Lattice'92, held in Amsterdam. preprint LTH 291. Comes with 6 PostScript figures and 1 sty-file. We study the nature of gauge fixing ambiguities in two dimensional gauge theories. We find that these ambiguities can be related to the asociated spin model. They can be eliminated by means of a (multigrid) annealing algorithm.
