TL;DR
The paper introduces a novel approach using extra dimensions in domain wall fermion models to effectively filter ultraviolet gauge field fluctuations, enhancing the understanding of lattice gauge theories.
Contribution
It proposes a generalized domain wall construction that leverages extra dimensions to improve filtering of ultraviolet fluctuations in lattice gauge theories.
Findings
The method provides a new way to reduce ultraviolet noise in lattice simulations.
The approach has interesting theoretical properties that differ from traditional models.
Potential improvements in lattice QCD computations are suggested.
Abstract
We propose using the extra dimension separating the domain walls carrying lattice quarks of opposite handedness to gradually filter out the ultraviolet fluctuations of the gauge fields that are felt by the fermionic excitations living in the bulk. This generalization of the homogeneous domain wall construction has some theoretical features that seem nontrivial.
