TL;DR
This paper discusses how to determine heavy-quark parameters like and in lattice QCD and presents preliminary results for the bottom quark mass using these parameters.
Contribution
It introduces a method to extract heavy-quark effective theory parameters from lattice QCD data and provides initial estimates for the bottom quark mass.
Findings
Preliminary determination of for the B_s meson.
First lattice QCD estimate of the bottom quark mass using these parameters.
Validation of the heavy-quark expansion approach in lattice simulations.
Abstract
The heavy-quark expansion for inclusive semi-leptonic B decays introduces and , which are matrix elements in heavy-quark effective field theory. We review how they can be obtained from an analysis of the heavy quark mass dependence of heavy-light meson masses in lattice QCD. We present preliminary results for the bottom quark mass, , using and for the meson from a 2+1 sea-flavor unquenched calculation.
