TL;DR
This paper predicts the mass of the B_c meson using three-flavor lattice QCD with MILC gauge field ensembles, providing a precise theoretical estimate that accounts for various uncertainties.
Contribution
It presents a novel lattice QCD calculation of the B_c meson mass incorporating three-flavor effects and detailed error analysis.
Findings
Predicted B_c meson mass: 6304 MeV
Quantified uncertainties from statistical, systematic, and discretization effects
Demonstrated the effectiveness of three-flavor lattice QCD in meson mass predictions
Abstract
We use lattice QCD to predict the mass of the meson. We use the MILC Collaboration's ensembles of lattice gauge fields, which have a quark sea with two flavors much lighter than a third. Our final result is . The first error bar is a sum in quadrature of statistical and systematic uncertainties, and the second is an estimate of heavy-quark discretization effects.
