F.X. Lee, R. Kelly, L. Zhou, W. Wilcox

TL;DR
This paper calculates baryon magnetic moments using lattice QCD with external magnetic fields, analyzing their response to different field strengths to understand baryon structure.
Contribution
It introduces a lattice QCD approach with external fields to compute baryon magnetic moments in the quenched approximation, advancing previous methods.
Findings
Magnetic moments are extracted from linear mass responses to external fields.
Progressively smaller magnetic fields improve the accuracy of the linear response.
The study probes pion masses down to about 500 MeV.
Abstract
We present a calculation of the magnetic moments of the baryon octet and decuplet using the external field method and standard Wilson gauge and fermion actions in the quenched approximation. Progressively smaller static magnetic fields are introduced on a latticeat beta=6.0 and the pion mass is probed down to about 500 MeV. Magnetic moments are extracted from the linear response of the masses to the external field.
