Spontaneous violation of CP symmetry in the strong interactions
Michael Creutz

TL;DR
This paper explores how spontaneous CP violation can occur in strong interactions, identifying conditions under which it happens and discussing implications for lattice simulations.
Contribution
It demonstrates using a simple effective Lagrangian that spontaneous CP violation occurs over a large domain of quark mass parameters.
Findings
Large domain of quark masses allows spontaneous CP violation
Effective Lagrangian reveals conditions for CP violation
Warnings provided for lattice simulation approaches
Abstract
Some time ago Dashen pointed out that spontaneous CP violation can occur in the strong interactions. I show how a simple effective Lagrangian exposes the remarkably large domain of quark mass parameters for which this occurs. I close with some warnings for lattice simulations.
