TL;DR
This paper discusses the implementation and performance analysis of a lattice QCD simulation using polynomial hybrid Monte Carlo on the Earth Simulator, highlighting current efficiency levels and areas for optimization.
Contribution
It presents the coding strategies and performance metrics of a lattice QCD program on a supercomputer, identifying bottlenecks and potential improvements.
Findings
Achieved 25-40% efficiency in the simulation.
Identified communication overheads as a key factor for performance.
Suggested tuning of inter-node communications for better efficiency.
Abstract
We report on coding and performance of our polynomial hybrid Monte Carlo program on the Earth Simulator. At present the entire program achieves 25--40% efficiency. An analysis of overheads shows that a tuning of inter-node communications is required for further improvement.
