TL;DR
This paper provides numerical evidence for superpositions of Kraan-van Baal caloron solutions with non-trivial holonomy in SU(2) gauge theory at finite temperature, highlighting their potential role in the semi-classical approximation of the partition function.
Contribution
It demonstrates the existence of caloron and BPS monopole superpositions with non-trivial holonomy in the confinement phase using lattice gauge theory.
Findings
Evidence for caloron and monopole superpositions at T ≤ T_c
Non-trivial holonomy configurations are observed
Implications for semi-classical approaches in gauge theories
Abstract
With the help of the cooling method applied to SU(2) lattice gauge theory at non-zero we present numerical evidence for the existence of superpositions of Kraan-van Baal caloron (or BPS monopole pair) solutions with non-trivial holonomy, which might constitute an important contribution to the semi-classical approximation of the partition function.
