Monopoles, confinement and the photon propagator in QED$_3$
M. N. Chernodub, E.-M. Ilgenfritz, A. Schiller

TL;DR
This paper investigates how monopoles influence the photon propagator in 3D compact QED, revealing non-perturbative effects like mass generation and anomalous dimensions through lattice simulations.
Contribution
It provides a detailed analysis of monopole effects on the photon propagator in 3D compact QED, including the role of Gribov copies and non-perturbative phenomena.
Findings
Monopoles induce a photon mass and anomalous dimension.
Non-perturbative effects are absent in the regular gauge field part.
Gribov copies significantly affect the gauge fixing process.
Abstract
We study the lattice gauge boson propagator of 3D compact QED in Landau gauge at zero and non-zero temperature. Non-perturbative effects are reflected by the generation of a mass , by an anomalous dimension and by the photon wave function renormalisation . These effects can be attributed to monopoles: they are absent in the propagator of the regular part of the gauge field. The r\^ole of Gribov copies is carefully investigated.
