The phase diagram of QCD with two and four flavors: results with HYP fermions
A. Hasenfratz (Colorado U.), F. Knechtli (Humboldt U.)

TL;DR
This paper investigates how improved flavor symmetry in staggered fermions with HYP smearing influences the finite temperature phase transition in QCD with two and four flavors.
Contribution
It provides preliminary results showing the impact of HYP smearing on the QCD phase diagram, highlighting the role of flavor symmetry improvements.
Findings
HYP smearing affects the finite temperature phase transition.
Improved flavor symmetry influences the phase diagram.
Preliminary results indicate significant effects of smearing.
Abstract
We study the finite temperature phase transition of four and two flavor staggered fermions with hypercubic smeared link actions. These preliminary studies suggest that the improved flavor symmetry of the fermionic action can have a significant effect on the finite temperature phase diagram.
