Formation of the $\eta_c$ in Two-Photon Collisions at LEP
L3 Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper measures the two-photon width of the $ ext{eta}_c$ meson at LEP, studies its $Q^2$ dependence, and reports signals for related charmonium states, providing new experimental data on charmonium production.
Contribution
It provides the first measurement of $ ext{eta}_c$ two-photon width at LEP and analyzes its $Q^2$ dependence with a Vector Meson Dominance model.
Findings
Measured $ ext{eta}_c$ two-photon width as 6.9 keV with uncertainties.
Observed a signal at the $ ext{chi}_c0$ mass with 29 events.
Set upper limits for widths of $ ext{chi}_c0$, $ ext{chi}_c2$, and $ ext{eta}_c'$.
Abstract
The two-photon width of the meson has been measured with the L3 detector at LEP. The is studied in the decay modes , KK, KK, KK, , , and using an integrated luminosity of 140 pb at GeV and of 52 pb at GeV. The result is (BR) keV. The dependence of the cross section is studied for GeV. It is found to be better described by a Vector Meson Dominance model form factor with a J-pole than with a -pole. In addition, a signal of events is observed at the mass. Upper limits for the two-photon widths of the , , and …
