Charmonium Decays to Axialvector plus Pseudoscalar Mesons
BES Collaboration: J. Z. Bai, et al

TL;DR
This paper investigates charmonium decays to axialvector and pseudoscalar mesons using BES data, confirming some decay rates and revealing unexpected differences between psi(2S) and J/psi decay behaviors.
Contribution
It provides new measurements of decay branching fractions and highlights discrepancies in decay patterns that challenge existing mixing angle models.
Findings
Branching fraction for psi(2S) to b1pi matches expectations.
Observed contrasting decay behavior between psi(2S) and J/psi to K1K.
Discrepancies cannot be explained by simple mixing angle adjustments.
Abstract
A sample of 3.79 million psi(2S) decays observed in the BES detector is used to study the decays of charmonium to axialvector plus pseudoscalar mesons. The branching fraction for psi(2S) to b1pi agrees with expectations. A contrasting behavior between the psi(2S) and the J/psi decays to K1K cannot be accommodated by an adjustment of the singlet-triplet axialvector mixing angle.
