TL;DR
This paper reports measurements of charged hadron and jet production in gamma-gamma collisions at LEP, comparing results with QCD predictions and demonstrating photon component separation.
Contribution
First measurement of charged hadron and jet production in gamma-gamma collisions at LEP energies with comparison to NLO QCD.
Findings
Measured cross-sections agree with QCD predictions
Demonstrated separation of direct and resolved photon components
Provided data for testing photon structure models
Abstract
The production of charged hadrons and jets is measured in collisions of quasi-real photons. The data were taken with the OPAL detector at LEP at e+e- centre-of-mass energies of 161 and 172 GeV. The measured cross-sections are compared to perturbative next-to-leading order QCD calculations. The separation of the direct and the resolved component of the photon is demonstrated.
