The doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $D^+\to K^+ \pi^- \pi^+$
The Fermilab E791 Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper reports the first observation of a doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay of the D+ meson, measuring its branching ratio relative to a favored decay and analyzing its resonant substructures.
Contribution
The study provides the first measurement of the branching ratio for the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay D+ to K+ pi- pi+ and performs a Dalitz plot analysis to explore resonant contributions.
Findings
Observed 59 ± 13 events of the decay.
Measured branching ratio to be (7.7 ± 1.7 ± 0.8) × 10^{-3}.
Performed Dalitz plot analysis for resonant structures.
Abstract
We report the observation of the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay in data from Fermilab charm hadroproduction experiment E791. With a signal of 59 \pm 13 events we measured the ratio of the branching fraction for this mode to that of the Cabibbo-favored decay to be . A Dalitz plot analysis was performed to search for resonant structures.
