Spin Physics with COMPASS
Gerhard K. Mallot (On Behalf of the COMPASS Collaboration)

TL;DR
The COMPASS experiment at CERN aims to measure gluon polarization with high precision using open charm muoproduction to study photon-gluon fusion.
Contribution
It introduces a novel experimental approach at CERN to precisely measure gluon polarization via open charm production.
Findings
Expected measurement precision of delta(Delta g/g) = 0.1.
Use of open charm muoproduction as a tag for photon-gluon fusion.
Implementation of the COMPASS experiment at CERN.
Abstract
The recently proposed COMPASS experiment at CERN attempts a measurement of the gluon polarisation with a precision of delta(Delta g/g) = 0.1. The experiment uses open charm muoproduction to tag the photon-gluon fusion process.
